Florals for Winter

People are already talking about trends for spring. Well, it's not spring here and it won't be for another several weeks. One of the biggest trends for spring is always florals. I like wearing floral patterned clothing any time of year because it makes me happy. Here are four of my current favorite floral dresses and how I wear them in winter.

#1

purple dress thrifted years ago and hemmed by my mom. cream cardigan thrifted (so cozy).
Black jeans from Smartset. I wore this with the tall brown boots from this post

#2

this Forever21 dress that I posted about here. black leggings from Walmart ages ago.
I like to wear this one with the short ankle boots from here.
and sometimes a black cardigan if it's especially chilly.

#3

orange/green/white floral dress from Walmart. dark green cardigan from Ricki's. (super soft)
I wear it with boots.

#4

white/multi-coloured dress thrifted. blue cardigan thrifted.
I like to wear it with the red mocassins from this post.

I got a new phone case because my old one was cracking and breaking.
It is from this painting

And here are some real flowers. Tulips in the kitchen.

5 Movies to Watch this Valentine's Day

Here are 5 movies with love stories that I think are great to watch whether you're with a romantic partner, with your mom, with some friends, or by yourself. In no particular order:

The Princess Bride. The great 1987 film directed by Rob Reiner featuring romance, adventure,sword-fighting, a giant, an evil six-fingered man, a crazy Sicilian, a sexy 80s Cary Elwes, and a hilarious cameo by Billy Crystal. If you haven't seen this movie I don't know where you went wrong in life but it's not too late. Watch it.

Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain aka Amelie. A lovely French film where Audrey Tautou plays a quirky, shy woman who is afraid of love. She takes her destiny into her own hands and also vows to help other underdogs like herself. Set in Montmarte, Paris it's a beautiful movie about love, life, and following your dreams.

Garden State - everyone's favourite indie quarter-life crisis coming-of-age movie featuring Zach Braff as the lost soul main character (he also wrote and directed) and Natalie Portman as the adorable manic pixie dream girl who rescues him and helps him find himself again. Killer soundtrack, awesome movie. My 15 year old self can't recommend it enough. Maybe don't watch this one with your mom, though. I did once and she didn't like it.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Jim Carrey plays the Kate Winslet character and Kate Winslet plays the Jim Carrey character. Both are great. This movie is really sad so maybe don't watch it if you've recently broken up with someone. Or maybe do? I don't know. It's really beautiful. directed by Michel Gondrey so it's a little weird. Also Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, and Elijah Wood are in it. Also has a great soundtrack. It's sad but hopeful at the same time? I don't want to give too much away. Just watch it and maybe have some kleenex and chocolate on hand. Super lovely film.

How to Lose a Guy In 10 Days. The original Matthew McConaughey rom-com! and Kate Hudson is wonderful. And this movie is hilarious and adorable. Hudson is a magazine editor who's writing a column with the title of the movie. McConaughey is in a bet where he has to make Hudson fall in love with him in 10 days. So he's trying to woo her and she's trying to drive him away and it's romantic comedy gold. (as the poster would suggest). This is one that's good to watch with your mom because it's not too sexy and it's not too indie.

Happy Valentine's Day!
